PAW 2017 Launches May 15th
David Wilson - May 04, 2017
Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) 2017 kicks off on May 15th till 19th with the theme ‘Trust and Transparency’. Along with a number of online resources, the OAIC will be releasing The Australian Community Attitudes to Privacy Survey (ACAPS) results which will provide a snapshot of Australia’s views on everything from privacy concerns and trends, to ID theft and data breaches. These survey results will undoubtedly highlight public sentiment with respect to how personal data is collected and used and will also provide vital information for companies and websites to reassess or strengthen their approach to user privacy.
In addition to this, the OAIC will be releasing the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) eLearning program. The program will help companies get privacy right from the start by undertaking the assessment and identifying privacy risks and developing the strategies to address those risks. At my Privacy Policy, we have always been advocates of ‘coding with privacy in mind’ and so we are excited to see such an initiative being rolled out that any member of the public can use in order to perform a privacy health check.
